Batya Podos is a retired middle school drama teacher, as well as an ordained Maggid—a storyteller and teacher in the Jewish tradition. Currently, she directs Congregation Nahalat Shalom’s education program in Albuquerque, where she brings stories to life in the classroom and the Jewish community. She is also Co-Director of RISE, a pro gram which educates teachers on how to use story and storytelling in their classrooms. She has performed and facilitated story workshops throughout the United States and Europe for over 40 years. With her experience as a storyteller, educator, writer and performer, she is the founder and director of the NM Jewish Storytelling Festival, now in its fourth year. (November 8-10, 2024) Her first novel, Rebecca and the Talisman of Time, was nominated for the Oregon Spirit Book Award. Her second novel, B’one Deep, comes out on Amazon this year.
Uval Trubitz is an award-winning author and an accomplished storyteller. He can be found sharing stories at Albuquerque events such as Duke City Story Slam, Tellabration, As Is Told, and Duke City Dime Stories. When not writing or telling, Uval is a dad who spends his time hiking, camping, and enjoying life with his family. Mostly though, he just loves words...and talking. Or in other words.telling stories…
What to expect! A showcase of local, national, and international professional storytellers, on the second Sunday of every June and September. Refreshments served at intermission.
