Water is Life

  • Tortuga Gallery 901 Edith Boulevard Southeast Albuquerque, NM, 87102 United States (map)

Jane Westbrook and friends are teaming up with a Tortuga Gallery art show to present a storytelling event. The theme for the Tortuga show, which opens March 4, is "WATER IS LIFE". The storytelling event will be Sunday March 20, which is Spring Equinox and World Storytelling Day.

All types of storytellers and stories are invited and welcome: personal, traditional, metaphorical, ekphrastic (come see the art in the show and create a story around one of the pieces) .... all on the theme of "WATER IS LIFE". We are looking for 4-6 featured tellers and will have some time for some shorter stories to. Some of the artists may also be telling the story of their art.

Please contact Jane Westbrook ASAP by text at 505-400-1545, or by email at jawesty74@yahoo.com and let me hear your "WATER IS LIFE' story.

The call for art from Tortuga included this:
Consider the following:

70% of our Earth is covered in water
2% of the water is fresh and of this,
1.6% is locked in polar ice caps, so
0.4% is left to support life (human and other land lovers)
How can we conserve and care for and value the water on our planet? What creative expression connects to this ideal?
